My visit to South Korea 2023 was very close to the cherry blossom peak dates in Seoul, so I got to enjoy many blossoms and beautiful flowers!

Nowadays many countries have imported the beloved japanese trees, so it´s not like you have to come all the way to Asia to see it.. but there is still a nice “touch” to be in the region where they originate. At least for certain cherry blossoms I was told they were native from Korea. Also being native we talk about entire forests and, at the right time, pretty much the entire country gets to enjoy it.. as opposed to very specific locations elsewhere.

Perfecting the art of selfies since 2006 😉

The other aspect is of course.. the combination of unique Asian architecture with a background or foreground spring view, otherwise it could be anywhere else, right?? Getting BOTH at the same time was my mission!

It was fully instagrammable even if you are not into that. This post is to keep my memories of my favorite “flowery” moments from the South Korea trip.. and remember where this was! No history, no boring facts, just eye-candy!

Seoul royal palaces

This was in my head exactly what I was dreaming of, not just seeing cherry blossoms.. but capture them with such beautiful traditional Korean architecture. An obvious location for this was the royal palaces!

Seokchon lake, Seoul

This was one of my happiest mornings in the whole trip. It was just so ridiculously beautiful I could not believe my eyes. The entire lake was surrounded by blooming cherry trees, with nice views to the Lotte World theme park and modern tall buildings, a pretty good combination to the eye. It is a recommended place to visit for cherry blossom viewings for a good reason! (Downside: crowds)

Some smiles can be fake… trust me I was super happy here! I cannot explain it
Few days “late” added to the beauty, fallen blossoms on the lake made it prettier!

Give me a lake, flowers, a dock.. I do the rest!
The different tones, the proportion provided by people waking by, what is not to love?
One of my favorites, the contrast is superb! Photos are not enough, but trying!
View from the bridge to half of the lake, it was breathtaking
My attempt to show in video and I still believe it does not make it justice
It was like this.. but ALL around the lake
Using my 360 camera, fully surrounded by cherry blossoms
Nature and modern buildings

More photos from Seoul. “It could be anywhere” pictures, as opposed to the ones above with a distinctive Korean location. I love them both though…

Gyeongju

As I moved south, the peak season was less and less BUT.. late bloomers are always present in nature. Far less in quantity but yet possible to find some isolated cherry blossoms but other flowers too!

Busan

The more south and days after.. resulted in totally “past season”.. but again there are so many beautiful garden arrangements still worth seeing! All these pics are in a street leading to the Haeundae beach

I have more photos but these should safely cover my favorites! If possible to travel to South Korea during the cherry blossom season, definitely recommended!

Cheers. Nat
