Good day everyone, except you: Weiss & Benioff , not you guys! (oops! I´m still not over my Khaleesi!) anyway..

Lapland Hotel Snow Village is located in Kittilä, Finland. This is even further north compared to my previous visit to Kemi and still 200 km above the Arctic Circle. They also change the theme every year and in 2019 they partnered with HBO Nordic to build the ice hotel based on Game Of Thrones!

The ice throne

The famous iron throne… here became the Ice Throne! If you are wondering .. no, it was not possible to sit on it! It would have been fun but I can also understand why it needed to remain as a sculpture just to admire!

The rooms

In this case I did not stay in the hotel as such, as I had experienced this already in Kemi and once in my lifetime was enough 😉 but obviously I wanted to visit since I already lived in Finland and it was just one more excuse for me to go to Lapland again. All rooms were iconic and representing something important from Game of Thrones, but let´s start with the ones I have proof I was there 😉 The whitewalker and the House of Stark rooms were pretty cool!

Other rooms were representing the Purple Wedding, the House of Baratheon, Braavos and The Mountain and viper

2 more classics: The Night King (the scariest one of all!) and the Three eyed raven.. (not happy about this character either, btw..)

Some other rooms including the Blue Dragon, the Sack of Astapoor and the Birth of the Dragons (last pink-ish picture) To be fair, the Daenerys representation through the birth of the dragons scene as ok.. but nothing so spectacular as the character deserved 😉 I´m obviously pro-Targaryen here even though they were a little crazy 😉 However, the dragons represent the House of Fire here.

Some ice sculptures of dragons and the dining table details were great!

The dragons

Some of the main attractions without a doubt were the dragon sculptures. These were almost at the entrance in a bigger space so they could be built in 3D! Really spectacular! Both the big sculptures below as some “smaller” ice sculptures like the blue dragon above.

There was also a restaurant and a bar, but this time my visit was more rushed and due to the weather I also run out of battery in the end 🙂 Yet my main focus was on the rooms on those designs that were very specific to the world of Game of Thrones. Who knows? I don´t lose hope now with the hype of The House of Dragon, HBO Nordic plans something like this again???? Fingers crossed!

Some bonus pics as always!

With all these memories I´m having feelings to visit ice hotels again 😉 Their beauty is they can always be different! Until then..

    • I just posted it 😉 Now I feel like visiting again either in Kemi or Kittila in the winter. We should plan something if the theme looks good!
